G30 Lianyungang–Khorgas Expressway

G30 Lianyungang–Khorgas Expressway (连云港–霍尔果斯高速公路) is China’s longest east–west highway, stretching about 4,243 km from Jiangsu to the Kazakh border. Construction began in the 1990s as part of the National Trunk Highway System, aiming to link the coast with inland provinces. By 2014, it was completed end-to-end, marking a milestone in China’s expressway expansion. Historically, its route mirrors the ancient Silk Road, now reborn in asphalt as a key corridor under the Belt and Road Initiative. Our bus trip from Urumqi to Dushanzi along the highway was 280km, which took about 4 hours.
