The Lavender Industry in Xinjiang

Xinjiang, particularly Huocheng County in the Ili River Valley, is renowned for its extensive lavender fields, making it the largest lavender production area in China and the third-largest globally. The region's lavender cultivation began in 1965 with the introduction of lavender from France. Today, Huocheng's lavender fields cover approximately 3,500 hectares, accounting for 97% of China's lavender output. Mild winters, cool summers, and abundant sunshine create ideal conditions for lavender growth. The lavender blooming season in Huocheng is divided into two main periods:First Season: Late May to June, with harvest around June 20.
Second Season: Late July to September.
